What's Hakchon
With the opening of Hakchon Theater at the heart of Seoul's theater district Daehakno
inMarch 1991, Hakchon was founded with the mission to create a new cultural space
through integration of different genres. In addition to planning and producing
musicals, plays, music concerts, dance and other performances,
Hakchon produces music albums and publishes plays.
Through various experiments and new ventures in musical production,
Hakchon Theater Troupe is committed to vitalizing
performing arts in Korea.
Hakchon Theater
Since the 1994 production of the rock musical Line 1, Hakchon Theater has produced
Moskito, the musical Blood Brothers, and the rock opera Gaettongi,
with a continued effort to bring to the public musicals in Korean language
with the Korean ethos.
In addition to musical adaptation, Hakchon Theater is committed to modernizing
other classical genres, such as pansori (the traditional Korean opera),
Japanese kabuki and Chinese opera, and through such efforts,
we hope to create and develop a new musical form and promote
truly original Korean musicals. With a wide range of interactions
with the international performing arts' world, we are committed to
raising the artistic and production standards to par with the international standards.
